Kahlua – pastel chalk
This piece is a copy of a photograph by Tom Beasley. It’s Kahlua, my dear friend Todd’s recently departed pit/lab mix. This is her at around 4 years old, sitting next to her master’s desk. You can see Todd’s right boot on the floor in the left side of the image. I used soft chalk pastels on some toned and textured paper. It took about 6 layers to get the values and lighting the way I wanted.
